Hello All,

I haven't done much on the baby quilt or wall-hanging.  Progress on the baby quilt includes hiding all the thread ends and trimming in preparation for binding.  I'm going to bind it with a mix of the stripes and the Amy Butler dot fabric.  I actually had to go out to buy an ironing board before I cut the binding.

For the wall-hanging I've done more bead work and found some black with white polka dot material for the binding.  My original thought was to use a black and white gingham check but I didn't find any at the store so I chose this instead.

I'm excited to say I'm taking a class with Linda Hall called Fantastic Feathers.  It's at Sanford Sewing Machine.  http://www.sanfordsewing.com/  In preparation I tried a few feathers of my own since I've never done them before.

Sorry it's so hard to see the feathers.

I just signed up for a free on-line class called Art-Ful Card Making Techniques with Jane LaFazio and Joanne Sharpe.  It's sponsored by Strathmore.  http://www.strathmoreartiststudio.com/groups/workshop-3/forum/   I follow Jane's blog http://janeville.blogspot.com/

Hope everybody's having fun doing something creative.

Hello All,

I've gotten to the finishing stages of the baby quilt.  I just have to trim threads, square it up and add the binding.

I've also been adding beads to the cheater panel from the class I took.  I like the fabric and want to finish it so I can hang it up somewhere.  I decided that the black and white feathers should be the top and bottom, but the middle seemed empty so that's where I'm adding the beads, black and white.
I think it still needs more beading.  My plan is to bind it with some black and white gingham, or polka dot, or ????

I've made quite a bit of progress on the baby quilt.  For the patches with the blue dots I decided to use a linear quilting stitch.  I like the contrast of linear with dots and spirals with stripes.  I'm doing outline and echo quilting on the penguin patches.

Baby Quilt Woes

Hello All,

I've been free motion quilting spirals on the baby quilt and I discovered a wrinkle on the back.Oh no!

The front looks better.

And I've tried out Leah Day's little tongues.  I like the stitch.  My photo didn't come out very well though.

Working on the baby quilt.  Apparently I didn't thread the bobbin properly.  What a mess!  I did manage to save most of it.  At least I can use it for hand sewing.

Having Fun with Free Motion Quilting

I'm a big fan of Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting project.  I bought a special quilting foot for my Bernina 330 at Sanford Sewing Machine and took a Free Motion Quilting class.  It's a cheater panel and I just stitched around the design to start.  After I got it home and worked on it some more, I made an oops because I don't like to use pins when I sew and I had removed the pin at the outer edge.  Unfortunately I didn't notice the backing fabric had folded back on itself. so I had to rip out some stitching.
